Family

Yesterday, Harlock's Aunt and Uncle came down with his mom and dad to spend part of the day. It was really fun and amazing to see them all.

365 Photo Day 29--Sandra

Dinner from Last Night

STEAK!

Last night Harlock tackled steak and won.

I couldn't help but to say "MmmmMmmm" after every single bite. This thing was delicious and I'm not really a steak person. Well, I'm a steak person now as long as Harlock makes it. He topped the steaks with blue cheese crumbles, bacon, and grilled onions. Delicious!

And here is Harlock looking confident. He's the best chef I've ever met! Good job my love!!

Jeans

I have a tendency to wear out clothing and shoes. My mom used to get mad because I went through so many "good" jeans. As a kid I always had holes in my jeans or the bottoms of my jeans were completely worn away from walking on them. I'm rough on clothes. Still am.

My lovely R2D2 Droid phone.

Storm

Pretty bad storms rolled in yesterday around 4pm and 5pm so I grabbed my camera and headed out right before the rain started.

365 Photo Project Day 25

When There's No More Room in Hell.....

Last night I did my first test shots of the Zombie Project with make up and chocolate syrup. By no means an end to the project or ideas for it I just wanted to see how the chocolate syrup would show up on....film...no I don't use film...well you get the idea. Anyways! I applied black eyeshadow to around my eyes and slathered chocolate syrup on my chin.

I experimented with poses, positions and lighting. The above shot was taken through this door with some windows. You can see part of my palm pressed against the glass. I didn't think about shooting at an angle to make sure that it was clear that the zombie was on the other side of a window.

Same door with windows but shot differently. While you can't see the chocolate syrup, erm, blood as clearly you can tell that there is a barrier between camera and zombie. I like this shot but would like to improve upon it.

This is my favorite out of what I shot. I like how the light is reflected off the "blood" and how the eyes are rolled back. I also love how the neck is lit. It reminds me of a Madonna painting with Mary looking up to the Heavens.

My attempt at a zombie walk-by. I like the pose and how the eyes catch the light. the hair is wild but looks a little too flat.

My main problem was the fact that I was not only the zombie but the photographer as well. So I was constantly running back and forth and couldn't get too far from the camera since I had to set the auto timer, stand in front of the camera, focus, and shoot. I need zombie bodies!

I like how the idea is shaping up at least and when I do get more people it should be pretty awesome.

A Cold and Windy Sunset

Ooooh it was cold yesterday when I went down to the bay. Cold and windy that froze me almost instantly. The waters were extremely rough with waves crashing against the rocks spraying mist everywhere. Fighting the wind I decided to try and capture the violence and chaos of those waves.

This is the shot that got me drenched! I'm not even happy with this shot but I worked hard to get it.

By the time the actual sunset started which is the only reason I ventured down to the water, I was wet, my camera was wet and my fingers were numb. I was laughing, just laughing. This whole ordeal was just fun and crazy. I had to shove my hat in my camera bag since it kept flying off my head. I had to hold down my tripod since the wind was threatening to take that too. My fingers were barely working and it was hard to adjust any settings on my camera. I had a difficult time but I think it was worth the adventure.

365 Photo Project Day 22--Sarasota Sunset

Adventures with Vultures

I woke up this morning and saw some vultures swooping pretty low. I peeked outside and saw a dead opossum in the street and a flock of vultures overhead. This started my day long quest to photograph some vultures. I love taking pictures of vultures. They are huge, imposing, ominous, and just awesome.

Unfortunately, none landed on the opossum since my road is just too busy and throughout the day the opossum vanished from it's location so I gave up and was content with the pictures that I did manage to get. I saw the vultures again closer to the evening and rushed out. This time there were about 20 in the sky. The opossum, apparently, ended up about two houses away.

Due to my carelessness I scared what vultures were on the ground away but still managed to grab a few awesome shots.

Luckily, two rather stubborn vultures had landed on a fence and a light pole and I got great pictures of them.

I would've really liked to grab a few shots of the vultures eating the poor opossum but I spooked them too much and they never came back. Maybe tomorrow morning they'll be snacking away....I'm hoping so.
